I just signed up for the delicious account, which means at this point I have no idea what I'm doing. I saw the name delicious and thought maybe I had warped into a cooking class by mistake. Little did I know, that it had so much to offer. Yes, it's taking time to figure out, but I expected that. Live and learn right? I've never been big on bookmarking. I never understood the purpose, but maybe this exercise will help demonstrate that.
I started looking up different authors, just to see what would come up. Wow was there a variety. Looking up things for this class specifically was harder. As with most searches I found that my parameters were not as specific as they needed to be. I decided to look up e-readers like Kindle since this technology seemes to be the new "in thing", it's important to know how and why things are changing. I can see both sides of this fence. It would be easy to say that a traditional book is better, but one can also argue the other side. The simple truth is books are not going away so a libraray isn't going away. Things are changing of course, but if things didn't it would be boring.
Hey Susie-
ReplyDeleteI like your latest blog entry title. Good play on words which made me want to read it!
You don't bookmark? When you get past 40, bookmarks become very important because you can't remember where you've been on the computer!!!! It's much easier to bookmark it rather than try and retrace your steps - that would be exerting too much energy. At least that's my excuse! ;-)
Susie,
ReplyDeleteI also liked the wordplay. And boy does Melanie speak the truth about bookmarks. My Dad called me when his browser messed up and he lost all of his bookmarks! He was so angry lol. I told him about Delicious today so he is going to check it out. I find it so much easier to bookmark everything.
Susie I love your title. I think I would go nuts if I lost everything I have bookmarked in the past like Audrey's dad, even though I have done a good job of organizing with tags and descriptions, I have a lot. Well with Delicious I can start new and do better. I started learning how to turn on a computer in the summer of 2008 just before I began my first semester, and I have learned so much each semester I have been in school. I am so glad I did not take a class like this two years ago before I learned as much as I have now. Now I can add to what I know instead of beginning without a technological foundation.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I could make you all laugh and point taken about the bookmarks. Please excuse the long delay in responsse, today's the first day I've been reading blogs since the storm.
