Web 2.0 - The beginning

I've found this week's reading especially interesting.  I am very famiiar with Facebook and aol's instant messaging, but I had never heard of Second Life.  I must admit I was intrigued by that and after reading the chapter went to the site and have been trying to get oriented.
Although I knew of Twitter I had not considered using it.  I already have a facebook account and that opportunity for status updates seemed like enough.  Maybe it is, but maybe it isn't.  I'll give this a whirl it can't hurt.  That's what this class is about - trying something new and learning about the technologies that are out there.

  1. Hi Susie, I hope you catch this message, because it turns out I have no other way to contact you! There is something wrong with your Ivy Tech email account. I can send you the diagnostic message if you give me another email account to forward it to. Until you can get it straightened out with Ivy Tech Help Desk, it might be best to use another email account with Second Life and Twitter (actually, it might be better to use a different account with them anyway). But that is why you didn't receive confirmation emails, I suspect.

  2. I'm going to have a hard time trying Twitter. It's almost feels like I do not approve of it all the way to my bones. Even if I started to use it, and tell a bunch of people what I'm doing all the time- I don't know many people who have a Twitter account.. Second life I'll try though, but it does slow my computer down a ton. Have to fix that :) Good post!

  3. Good for you, for trying out Second Life! I was not quite as brave, but maybe someday....I'll be anxious to read about your experiences! I am also trying Twitter. I was amazed that within a few minutes of signing up, I already had 3followers - neither of which I knew! One was a "gadget enthusiast" from Florida, another had "pay day" in the title from GA - I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with the candy bar! ;-) The third had the word "sexy" in her user name, so I'm also pretty sure I won't be responding to her tweets! I think this is going to be fun!!!!

  4. THe Ivy tech mail system was down probably for spring break it seems to be working now. I opted out of the second life as a project, but did set up the account i am still trying to figure it out. Twitter I have rael mixed feelings about, but this class is set up to learn so I'll give it a whirl for now.
